In the women’s longboard LQS1000, Daisy Dela Torre and her daughter, Kaila Dela Torre, both advanced to the semifinals, even competing against each other in the same heats. Their smooth, timeless longboard style captured attention and highlighted the strength of Filipina surfers on the Asian circuit.

Crisanto Villanueva – Runner-Up in Men’s Longboard

Crisanto Villanueva from La Unionnarrowly missed the top spot, finishing as runner-up with 16.23 points, just behind Kanoa Hae-Jae’s 16.74. His graceful yet powerful style continues to elevate the reputation of Philippine longboarding in competitive surfing.


Marama Tokong – Eyes on the Challenger Series

John Mark “Marama” Tokong, the country’s top surf athlete, faced a tough heat in Korea and exited in the round of 64. His ranking has shifted from #8 to #11 in Asia, but Marama is far from finished.

With upcoming events like the Midas Capital Omaezaki Pro QS2000 (Sept 3–7, Shizuoka, Japan) and Billabong Tahara Pro QS6000 (Sept 16–21, Aichi Prefecture, Japan), Marama has multiple opportunities to climb into the Top 5 rankings and secure his spot in the WSL Challenger Series.
