Introducing our SISSTR Lea
Lea Nather has been a resident in Siargao island for several years. She fell in love with surfing, lay down her roots and even started a family.
In a candid conversation about motherhood and island living with Lea, she expressed that being a mother is not easy, yet she would not trade it for the world. She tackled initial postpartum depression, pressures on her relationship and opinions from others.
“As a mother, you are constantly learning…me and my partner are always learning…..listen to yourself, listen to your child”
Lea raises Na Na in nature, nurturing her daughter and allowing her to be her strong-willed self.
She still manages to find some time for herself in between juggling being a full-time mother. “When Na Na is at school, that’s when I have time for me. I surf, mostly in jacking horse”
Whilst surfing is a huge part of Lea’s life (she even surfed while pregnant!) She expressed that the support system of other mother’s living in Siargao has ultimately been her rock.
Womanhood and having SISSTRS is something so special about being a woman, and a mother.
